YNYSAWDRE COMMUNITY COUNCIL

Services

2022

In May, elections meant a new Council, a new Clerk, the production of a Newsletter, an additional flower pyramid off Maesteg Road, additional flower tubs in Terfyn Ynysawdre and flower bed projects Bryn Rd, and Maesglas.

Once again, our contractor, Mr Thomas was able to fill all the flower baskets, barrels and pyramid planters to brighten the area and help lift spirits.

In time for the Jubilee Celebrations, we held a Competitions for the Children of the area, and in the summer, a Gardening Competition to encourage planting.

In line with public opinion and the cost of hiring involved, it was decided to forgo Christmas lights as per previous years, instead we purchased solar lights for the planters. We are planning to look at the cost of purchasing light in the future.

The Community Council in association with the Farm Pantry provided Hampers for the residents of our three nursing homes and donated £200 in food to the Food Pantry.

Thanks to Cllr Bushell, we also produced a Newsletter in time for Christmas.

2021

Another difficult year for the community due to the continued effects of the Covid pandemic. However, thanks to the power of the internet, Ynysawdre CC was able to meet via one of the many platforms available. Sadly, the Community Council said goodbye to two long serving members, our Clerk, Anne Wilkes and a valued Chairman, Geoff Letman.

Once again, our contractor, Mr Thomas was able to fill the flower baskets, barrels and pyramid planters to brighten the area and help lift spirits.

Christmas light were ordered, however a poll suggested residents would like to see more planting of green spaces and trees.

The Community Council in association with the Farm Pantry provided Hampers for the residents of our three nursing homes.
